Privacy Policy: Currency Converter Offline
This policy explains what data the Android app Currency Converter Offline(package com.brightbyte.currencyconverter), published by Bright Byte, collects and how it is used.
No account, no personal details
The app has no sign-up or login. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, or location.
Data stored only on your device
The following stay on your phone and are not sent to us:
- the currencies you choose, amounts you type, and your recent conversions
- calculator history
- your rate alerts and app settings (language, theme)
- the saved exchange rates that let the app work offline
- the pair shown in the home screen widget and Quick Settings tile
Uninstalling the app or clearing its data removes all of this.
Data collected by third-party services
The app uses the following Google services. They may collect some data automatically:
| Service | Data | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Google AdMob | Advertising ID, device and app information, ad interactions | Showing ads and measuring ad performance |
| Firebase Analytics | App interactions (screens opened, features used), app instance ID, device model, OS version | Understanding how the app is used so we can improve it |
| Firebase Crashlytics | Crash logs and diagnostics (device model, OS version, stack traces) | Finding and fixing crashes |
| Firebase Cloud Messaging | A push token for the app on your device | Sending news and update notifications |
| Google Play Billing | Purchase history for Currency Converter Pro | Unlocking Pro features you bought |
| Firebase Cloud Firestore | Network request data (such as IP address) when the app downloads the day's rates; no data you enter is sent | Delivering exchange rates |
| Google Play In-App Review | Handled by Google Play when you choose to rate the app; we only see the public review | Letting you rate the app without leaving it |
This data is sent over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. Google processes it under its own privacy policy:policies.google.com/privacy
Exchange rates come from the free currency-api, with Open Exchange Rates as a fallback, and are delivered through the app's Firebase project. Rate requests contain no personal data beyond what any internet request carries (such as your IP address).
Ads and your choices
- In the EEA, UK and Switzerland, the app asks for your consent before showing personalised ads (Google UMP). You can change this at any time from Menu > Ad privacy options.
- You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings: Settings > Google > Ads (or Settings > Privacy > Ads, depending on your device).
- Buying Currency Converter Pro removes ads.
Notifications
On Android 13 and later the app asks for permission to show notifications. They are used for rate alerts you set (checked on your device) and for occasional news and update messages. You can turn them off in Android settings at any time.
Purchases and subscriptions
Payments are handled entirely by Google Play. We never see your card or payment details. You can cancel a subscription at any time in Google Play > Payments & subscriptions.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Data deletion
We do not hold an account or personal profile for you. To delete the data stored on your device, uninstall the app or clear its data. Data processed by Google services is not linked to your name or email, so we cannot look it up by person; you can reset or delete your advertising ID as described above. For any other question about your data, contact us at the email below.
Changes
We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date above shows the latest version.
